Eating while running

I'd been wondering about strategies for taking on food during the race itself (and during long training runs). This article from the New York Road Runners Club seems pretty comprehensive. Now is the time to start experimenting - I have 19 long training runs left.

Comments:
Well done with the efforts so far!
I use High 5 Energy Gel when on long runs - I buy it online and get the drums of powder. They come with a little flask thing that holds the same as 10 gels sachets. Because it has a sports lid it is really easy to take and you can also make a sports drink up with the powder.
High 5 is very pallitable too - best one I've found.
As you know I am a very slow runner - I did Abingdon Marathon last year and was out on the road for 7 hrs (we got lost!), from advice I took some gel every mile (or 15 mins) and did't hit the wall despite being out for so long!
Worth a try!

19 weeks of long runs - that makes it sound so close!

A class piece of html there from the owner of the site.

No worries Dan!
Hope you get the sample... I got the trail pack and the little belt that comes with it is great as you can run with tissues and keys in the pocket without knowing it's there!
